WEEE and Environmental Protection

What is WEEE?
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) consists of electrical and electronic equipment that has reached the end of its life cycle: laptops, computers, monitors, printers, televisions, components, home appliances, electronic accessories, etc. These contain substances that can be hazardous to the environment and health if not managed properly, as well as valuable materials that can be recycled.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol
Electrical and electronic equipment is marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol means that the product must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste, but must be handed over separately to a dedicated collection point, in accordance with OUG 5/2015 on waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Our obligations — and what we offer
As a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment, ALTANET S.R.L. (altamag.ro):
We take back your old equivalent equipment free of charge, on a "one-to-one" basis, upon purchasing a new equipment of the same type: upon delivery (notify us in advance at [email protected] to arrange pickup via courier) or at our store in Aleea Arhitect Duiliu Marcu no. 14, Craiova.
We take back very small WEEE free of charge (no external dimension exceeding 25 cm — for example: mice, keyboards, cables, adapters, phones) at our store in Craiova, without any obligation to purchase equivalent equipment.
We hand over collected waste exclusively to authorized operators for WEEE treatment and recycling.
Where else you can dispose of WEEE
At municipal collection points organized by local town halls and sanitation operators;
During periodic collection campaigns organized at the local level;
At authorized collective compliance schemes / responsibility transfer organizations (details on deee.mmediu.ro and local authority websites).
Batteries and accumulators
Used batteries and accumulators (including those from laptops, UPS units, phones) are collected separately, pursuant to HG 1132/2008. You can hand them in free of charge at our store in Craiova, as well as at marked collection points in retail stores that sell batteries.
Why it matters
Proper disposal of WEEE prevents soil and water pollution from hazardous substances (lead, mercury, cadmium), reduces resource waste by recycling metals and plastics, and represents a legal obligation for every holder of such waste. Thank you for recycling responsibly.
